Dine As If You Are In Europe

Obesity is a world wide problem. It doesn’t matter where you live, there is someone who is affected by obesity. America is no exception to this. Because of the lifestyle that we lead, it is a major problem in our country. People often blame all of the things that they have to do leave them without any spare time to take care of the weight problem. When it comes to dining we go for the convenience of fast food despite the fact that we know it is terrible for this. Just like what we eat, when we figure out that we have a weight problem, we attempt to solve it by purchasing some program that promises to show us how to lose weight fast, without ever doing any work to lose it.

One solution for this can be found if we look across the ocean and see how they dine. If we followed some of the things that they do in Europe, we might eliminate the need to do our six pack ab exercises, that we have committed ourselves to doing every night in the interest of a healthy body. Europeans are apt to eat foods that have creamy sauces, dipping bread in them and washing it down with a glass of wine. This is a far cry from our typical calorie-conscious meals of salad and diet soft drinks. You will also notice that this was often all they would have. Instead of gorging on super sized plates, they eat a reasonable amount of food. They might enjoy a salad or a shared appetizer, along with wine. These are also a fraction of the price of a soft drink.
Meals were slow and leisurely, almost never hurried. The portions were reasonable, but not tiny. Europeans realize that food is first enjoyed with the eyes and take great care in the way that their food looks. They do not rush through their meal because they have something more important to do. It is not uncommon for people to close their place of business for several hours during lunch time so that it can be enjoyed. Wine was often sipped with lunch, but usually just one glass. The wine is meant to taken in slowly and not overdone.
Europeans are more likely to use their feet or a bicycle to get where they need to get to. The streets are not cluttered with cars trying to pull into a convenience store parking lot for a quick bite. They don’t have the habit of eating sweets and snack foods while they await the next meal. Americans are very bad when it comes to slowing down to eat and enjoying their food.
When a person starts to investigate ways to diet they can look at websites such as biggest loser forum, and they will see all types of advise that seems to mimic what the Europeans already seem to know, that eating is a pleasurable and social atmosphere and should be done in moderation and enjoyed. Taking the time to slow down and enjoy the whole dining experience can lead to a healthier body. Instead of taking a longer lunch because you have a bigger plate of food, take the time to enjoy the food with all of your senses. Dining everyday is not just a necessity, it is a time that should be enjoyed.
Our body appreciates when we supply it with good nourishment. It is not the kind where you see an immediate return. Making the right choices about eating and not picking up a candy bar to snack on will eventually help your body feel better, but it is not going to occur immediately. Choosing to eat an apple a day might not keep the doctor away but it can certainly help. But if you stay healthier than most, thinner than many, and as happy as you want to be over the long haul, at least some of that is probably a return for your investment in good food.
