1. It is important to make the effort to eat your meals at regular times. Irregular eating patterns upset your blood sugar, which is not good as a stable blood sugar will stop you putting on weight. If you eat irregularly you may also cause bloating and could upset the secretion of digestive enzymes which actually slow down if your stomach is empty for long periods.
2. Try to get 8 hours sleep as being tired actually will affect your metabolism and slow it down. Obviously, when you are over tired you put yourself in the position of making poor food choices as this will be the time you go for a quick snack which is usually the high calorie fatty food variety, which will probably give you a quick energy burst before the slump takes over.
3. This tip is one of the hardest to keep – eat when you’re calm. Yeah right. Not easy, because when you are upset, hungry or agitated it is all so easy to comfort eat and then what will you choose, the biggest cream cake you can find or the chocolate equivalent. So you need to be really firm with yourself to keep this one.
When you are feeling upset try to go to your juicer for a fresh vegetable juice or have a light meal such as soup as this is easier on the digestion.
4. Try to have your dinner reasonably early. About 6-7 pm. It is often stressed that if you eat late in the evening you will experience weight gain. The following day you may also feel tired and sluggish.
5. One tip I have always found useful is not to shop when you are hungry. Believe me if you do you will pick up all manner of junk. This is the time people will pick up cake, biscuit and chocolate. So make sure you eat something before you shop then you will find it much easier to stick to your shopping list – much cheaper as well!
